Back porch ripple

I'm making pretty good progress on a ripple blanket.
I want to use it out on the back porch this spring, when the air is still cool in the morning, and I can sit out on the Adirondack chairs with my coffee, the blanket draped across my lap, feet up, like a lady of leisure.
The last few weeks have been nuts, and working on this blanket has kept me distracted.  I have been caught up in doctor visits, blood tests, biopsies, an ultra sound, and even a trip to the emergency room.
Crochet (and a prescription for Xanax, hahaha) is soothing and the colors make me happy!  It seems I'm not going to be able to sail through menopause like I had hoped.  Here comes too much information.   Since I've been bleeding off and on like someone sacrificed a small animal, and I'm waaaay to old for this, (53), I'm scheduled for a full abdominal hysterectomy next month.  Well pooh.
Good news is, I will be able to leave this bloody roller coaster behind me, and wake up from surgery with an estrogen patch slapped on my arse, never to hot flash, cramp, or bleed again. YES!!!  I already have an idea of what projects I can work on, because I'm looking at a six week recovery time, on the couch, surrounded by yarn and hook. (well, not the whole six weeks, but I will only be strong enough at first to hold a crochet hook. Poor me.)  Bring it on.

  2. Hi Lynne

Feeling for you...this is definitely a strange time of life...your personal confidnece is at it's best, not caring what others think, speaking your mind but on the other hand we have to handle this annoying body stuff!! Hope you feel better soon but also enjoy your time on the couch with the hook and yarn...definitely the up side!! :)

  4. Hi Lynne, Sorry to hear you have been having it a bit rough recently, you sound in good spirits.
Best wishes for your operation and hope you recover well.
Make sure you are well stocked with yarn, just think of how much you'll be able to make in 6 weeks, lets hope you're in for some nice weather too, sounds amazing to be able to sit on a porch and enjoy a little sun and fresh air, what better way to recover.

    Take Care

  9. Oh no, hope the op goes well and that you do indeed have enough energy afterwards to hold a crochet hook! 6 weeks in bed/on the sofa - it sounds fairly perfect to me. Take care of yourself. BTW, can I just say that the colours you have chosen for the ripple are scrumptious, I really love them. xxxx

  10. Loving what I see! Laughing hard at what I read! It is always easier to deal with hard stuff if you put some humor to it... At first I thought you were seriously ill... And I guess you are in a way... Didn't know menopause could be so awful. poor girl. Hugs. And I am so flattered! You have read ALL MY POSTS! My gosh. You are a very patient girl... I guess you enjoyed it. I don't think I have ever polished though a complete blog. Tale care dear. ♥♥♥ Annette
