Transition table runner

Here in California, we are smack in the middle of two seasons.  The weather is warm and springlike one minute, and then windy and raining the next.  In the morning the furnace is running full blast, and in the afternoon, the windows are open, and you can hear the neighbors cutting their lawn.
I made a simple table runner to take me from chilly winter to the warmth of spring.  The brown gingham reminds me of the dark, bare, branches of the trees.  Yet, the tiny flowers on the calico are so springlike.  I made one pink block to represent the first little bloom pushing up from the dirt.  The binding is the color of new grass.
It's going to rain this week, even though it's warm today and the air smells like sunshine.  The breeze is stirring the blossoms from the pear tree, and they are fluttering across the yard and into the pool.  It looks so pretty.
I want to do something with that yarn.  I love those colors, but I'm just drifting along like the pear blossoms, trying to figure out where I'll land, what new project to start.  I've been looking on Pinterest and Ravelry and blogs and blogs and blogs.  Everyone is so talented and inspiring and full of great ideas!  I need a moment to let it all sink in.  A glass of wine wouldn't hurt either.
Here's to a very creative week!!!!!

  1. I like your tablerunner. Is that Cotton Tots yarn? That stuff is so soft. I tried it for the first time not too long ago and liked it. I've been eyeballing a table runner in a crochet pattern e-book I got recently. In fact, I went to Hobby Lobby today to pick up some yarn for it (I wanted to use Lustersheen), but they didn't have any. They haven't restocked in a very long time, dammit. So I guess I'll put it on hold for a while. The girl told me she was ordering soon. It was 87 here today! Supposed to be 20 degrees lower for a high tomorrow, but spring is definitely in the air!

  4. I don't comment very often, but I do love coming over to 'your place' and seeing all the pretty things you make. Always assured I'll find some beautiful colors and designs. I like the idea of your 'in between' table runner!

  5. Your table runner is beautiful Lynne. Such talent! Love the gorgeous teacup also. And ... well ... that YARN is scrumptious looking. Can't wait to see where it takes a sweet little pear blossom like you.
Wish we had your weather here in Illinois. I am watching big fat fluffy snowflakes fall all around me again. Upto 6 inches today most likely!
Come on Spring ~ I can hardly wait!
Have a lovely day {and a little wine along the way}!

  8. I know what you mean about being caught between two seasons! Last week was glorious and warm! COLD weekend up in Big Bear. Then nice down here. Even putting the laundry on the line to dry! But rain is in the forecast. I am just fine with that though. We get enough heat...it is the cooler weather that we don't get to experience enough.
Love those colors of yarn! Can't wait to see what you are making. I love gingham too!!
    Hugs,
    Kris
