Stuck in the middle

Oh I'm in the middle of too many projects at once and it's getting to me. I work on something for a bit, put it down because I just saw the pile of blocks for another quilt and need to move that one along, and then remember to add a few rows to my crochet scarf, and sew the last 2 blocks of the Hillside houses quilt.  Gaaah!  It's like the wheels are spinning but I'm not getting anywhere.  Time to bear down and focus on one thing.  The top priority is the blue May scrap quilt.  Just have to sew on the binding.  Okay that's easy.
Then the green June scrap quilt.  I'm sewing the last 5 blocks together before I cut and piece the sashing (by the way sashing is a real thing you stupid computer.  Quit underlining it and making me doubt myself and repeatedly put it through spell check.)  Doable by the end of the month (fingers crossed).

Then I have to stop and make some muffins..
These are Banana Crunch Muffins from The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook.  The crunch part comes from the addition of granola in the batter and sprinkled on the top.  They're also really sweet, and I cut the 2 cups of sugar back to 1 1/2 cups and it didn't affect the taste.  The bananas make it sweet as well. Great for breakfast with coffee or tea.
And just as I get all organized and prioritized this happens...

Basket blocks from Liberated Quiltmaking II by Gwen Marston.  Somebody slap me.

  1. Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one - I try and concentrate on one thing and then, oh look, something pretty ....

  2. Instead of a slap, I will just encourage you!!! I, also, had too many projects recently. It was making me frustrated and confused. So, I did what you are going to do and decided to FOCUS on moving a few of them to the finish line. I now have four finished quilt tops and a much happier attitude. Can't wait to see how your finishes turn out!

  3. You seem to be coping- I guess those banana muffins help! Whenever I have a list of things I want to do I prioritise them according to the amount of time it will take to complete each. The quickest finish goes at the top. I work my way down the list until, hopefully, everything is finished. That's if I don't start something new......

  4. Oh, I understand so well. You really are much more disciplined than I am. You have finished things to show. I have piles of UFO's and there is temptation every time I go online. Pinterest and blogs really are trouble. I need to follow some of the advice in the previous comments. I do love your scrappy quilts, such a wonderful idea. And those basket blocks ........................

  5. Love the May blue quilt. Can't wait to see how you finish it off. Of course you already gave us a sneak peak so we know you've tied it . And I love the choice of a gingham binding. My fave monthly quilt so far. Made me want a blue quilt too. Have been pulling together fabrics and ideas. But like you I'm finishing off two small quilts for my granddaughter (to use for napping at preschool) and a basketful of receiving blankets for a soon to arrive little boy of a friend. There are time constraints on these projects. Which is good because I will for sure finish them. Ha ha that's what it takes to get things done around here. Thanks for the inspiration. I love your blog!

    1. Thanks a bunch Lydia! Can you imagine if we never had a deadline on some of these projects? Most of the fun is in the starting :)

  6. Breathe deep! ;-)
Sometimes making a list helps me. Or working according to due dates. OR ignoring everything and starting something that really makes my heart sing! Take care!!
